Presenter's Biography:
Ms. Lau Wan-ching was admitted as a Barrister of the High Court of Hong Kong, China in 2007. Her practice covers civil law, commercial law, family law, and criminal law (has experience to act for prosecution and defence respectively) in Hong Kong, China, and has experience in conducting litigation and appeals. In addition, Ms. Lau is qualified as a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Grater Bay Area (GBA) Lawyer and Mediator. She is also the Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), the Dual Qualification Arbitration Tribunal Secretary of Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) & South China International Arbitration Center (HK) (SCIAHK), the Certified International Arbitrator (CIAB) of International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute (IDRRMI), Part-time Arbitrators from Hong Kong and Macao of Guangzhou Labour and Personnel Dispute Arbitration Commission, PRC, Arbitrator of Greater Bay Area International Maritime and Commercial Mediation Center, Arbitrator of Shanwei Arbitration Commission, PRC and Arbitrator of Wuhan Arbitration Commission, PRC. Furthermore, Ms. Lau is also an accredited mediator in Hong Kong, China, with expertise in civil and commercial, family, sports ((HKMAAL) General/Family, (AALCO) Med, Sports Med; (IDRRMI, MHJMC) IAPM). Since 2000, Ms. Lau has delivered lectures to various departments of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and to local universities, also provide CPD courses, seminars, and workshops to private sector. She is also a co-author of the Annotated Ordinances of Hong Kong: Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap 59), 1st issue, and the Annotated Ordinances of Hong Kong: Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap 374), 1st and 2nd issues, published by LexisNexis, Hong Kong. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Lau gained experience in television broadcast journalism in Hong Kong, serving as a news anchor and senior news reporter for TVB News and Cable News channels.

Objective:
Road traffic offences constitute a considerable proportion of criminal and regulatory matters handled by legal practitioners in Hong Kong. In this course, participants will examine road traffic offences commonly adjudicated in the courts of Hong Kong, including the relevant governing statutory and regulatory framework, procedural rules, professional practice considerations in road traffic proceedings, also to explore evidential and proof issues, expert evidence, pre trial preparation, and to review recent and significant judicial decisions impacting road traffic law including developments concerning cross border traffic enforcement and the regulation of unlawful car hire services (白牌車). This course is designed to provide legal partitioners (including solicitors, barristers, and in house counsel), as well as professionals with up to date knowledge and practical strategies, to enhance their professional competence and effectiveness in handling road traffic-related legal proceedings in Hong Kong, also remain current with recent judicial developments and enforcement trends that directly affect day to day legal practice in this area.

Outline:
- Highlight the key statutory provisions and regulatory framework governing road traffic offences commonly adjudicated in the courts of Hong Kong, for example, careless driving, dangerous driving, drink driving/ drug driving, disqualification and other driving-related offences.
- Analyse common evidential issues and expert evidence arising in road traffic prosecutions and assess their impact on case strategy.
- Prepare and manage road traffic cases effectively at the pre trial and trial stages.
- Evaluate recent significant judicial decisions and emerging enforcement trends, including cross border issues and unlawful car hire services (白牌車), and their implications for practice.

Bookings & Payments
To reserve a seat, please fax the completed booking form to us. We will send out a written Booking Confirmation either by fax or by email to confirm your booking, normally within 48 hours after receiving the booking form. Payment should be made upon we send the Booking Confirmation to you, or together with the booking form if the booking is received within seven (7) days of the course. You are advised to contact us to confirm your place if you have not received the Booking Confirmation prior to the commencement of the course.
Cancellation
In case of cancellation of a booking, you must inform us in writing at least seven (7) days before the date of the course, and a full refund will be issued (less of HK$300 administration fee). Cancellation of unpaid bookings will incur a HK$300 administration fee and the cancellation will not be deemed effective until payment of such fee is received. No refunds will be given and any outstanding amounts remain payable in full if the written notice of cancellation is made less than (7) days before the date of the course.
Transfer
If you cannot attend a booked course, you must inform us in writing at least 24 hours before the commencing time of the course. You may then:
- Transfer the booking to a replacement delegate;( Not available for Individual Discount Packages)
- Transfer your booking to another course, to be held before 31 October 2026; or
- Request a credit voucher, to be used on another LexOmnibus CPD course to be held before 31 October 2026.
No attendance
Once a booking is confirmed and no written notice of cancellation is received by us within the specified time as mentioned above, if a delegate has not settled the payment for a course and fails to attend, for whatever reason, the course fee will remain payable in full. To be awarded CPD points, full attendance of all parts of the conference is required. If you arrive later, or fail to attend a course, your course fee will not be waived, refunded or a credit voucher issued.
Weather
In the event that the No.8 typhoon signal is hoisted or the Black Rain Storm warning is raised within 2.5 hours of the course or is due to be raised during the course, the course will be cancelled. In the event of cancellation due to bad weather, the course will be rescheduled or a credit note issued. No refunds will be given.
Record of Attendance
A certificate of attendance can be provided at a cost of HK$40. Alternatively, a verification of attendance in letter format, along with the original payments receipt is available, at a cost HK$40. Please apply in writing to request either a certificate or verification letter subsequent to the course.
Conference Venue
All the conferences, except webinars, will be taken place in Central. The address of the conference venue will be notified by email, and via the website.
Other Terms
- We may reschedule, vary the details of a course at any time without liability. If we cancel or reschedule the course, except due to the weather conditions indicated, a credit note will be issued.
- Any bank charges and/or expenses incurred as a result of bounced cheques shall be borne by the delegates.
- LexOmnibus will not issue an invoice for registration of a course except under special circumstances and LexOmnibus reserves the right to charge an administration fee for providing that service.
