Objective:

ChatGPT is a generative artificial intelligence system (GenAI) in the form known as a large language model (LLM). This three-hour seminar will consider how ChatGPT may be used relatively safely by solicitors in Hong Kong. The seminar will begin with an introduction to artificial intelligence and how it works. We will then consider generative artificial intelligence and in particular large language models. The seminar will then explain how to use ChatGPT, what ChatGPT can do generally, and what it can do specifically for solicitors. Practical examples will be used to showcase its capabilities and also to highlight its limitations and possible issues that may arise with the use of ChatGPT, particularly in assisting with legal research and drafting. Guidance will be offered on designing useful prompts to assist with legal text generation. The seminar will conclude considering the risks solicitors face in using ChatGPT and how these risks may be mitigated.
