Presenter's Biography:

Stefan was educated in Australia and is a graduate of the University of Sydney (PhD, LLM, BA/LLB (Hons I)). He has worked in the Civil Division of the Department of Justice since 2009, predominantly advising in connection with the Companies Ordinance Rewrite and the Corporate Insolvency Law Improvement Exercise. He was previously a solicitor in private practice in Sydney and an Assistant Professor of the School of Law at the City University of Hong Kong. Stefan has published widely in the area of company law. He is author of Law of Companies in Hong Kong, now in its second edition (Sweet and Maxwell, 2015), and of In Search of Corporate Accountability: Liabilities of Corporate Participants (Cambridge Scholars, 2015), and co-editor of Butterworths Hong Kong Company Law Handbook. He has also written chapters in various company law books and loose-leaf works as well as articles in local and international journals. He is a Research Affiliate of the Sydney Law School's Ross Parsons Centre of Commercial, Corporate and Taxation Law.
 
Objective:

  • to highlight some of the main amendments to the Companies Ordinance (Cap 622) made by the Companies (Amendment) (No 2) Ordinance 2018
  • to provide an update on recent court decisions
