Presenter's Biography:

Enzo WH Chow was formerly a solicitor and working as a Government Counsel with the Department of Justice, specialized in civil litigation (including a wide range of land disputes involving the Government, tax cases, mental health cases, and public law family cases). He left the Department of Justice and became a barrister in 2006. Enzo has been a contributing editor to the Hong Kong Civil Procedure (the Whitebook) since the publication.

  1. Position before the enactment of the Mainland Judgments in Matrimonial and Family Cases (Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement) Ordinance (Cap.639).
    • Common law position.
    • Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Ordinance (Cap.188).
    • Child Abduction and Custody Ordinance (Cap.512).
    • Case law illustrating the difficulties in reciprocal recognition and enforcement before the enactment of Cap.639.

  2. The Enactment of the Mainland Judgments in Matrimonial and Family Cases (Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement) Ordinance (Cap.639).
    • The date when Cap.639 will come into force.
    • Applicable judgments and orders under Cap.639.
    • The registration mechanism created under Cap.639.
    • Effects of registration.
    • Setting aside registration.
    • Application for recognition orders.
